ROME – 3 Dreams of Black

The future looks fantastic. I’ve just seen the first real WebGL-Experiment that really catches me. With ROME, Chris Milk and some talented folks at Google created a stunning musicvideo with interactive WebGL-Content that has to be seen… The song behind all this is made by Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi and is called 3 Dreams of Black, a dreamy and gorgeous song that loses some attention due to the awesome work of the creative team around Chris Milk.
You can take a look behind the curtains and if you’re more interested in the making, you can download the entirely open source code of the project. One of the best demos i’ve seen in the Chrome Experiments is Clouds, as a user commented “it even looks better than in Microsoft Flight Simulator” — and he’s damn right.
Bare in mind that WebGL is just at the beginning of development and there’s a lot of creative stuff to come. The future looks bright, keep the good things coming.
WebGL is a context of the HTML5 canvas element that enables hardware-accelerated 3D graphics in the web browser without a plug-in. In other words, it enables your browser to show some really beautiful visuals.
